Word Nerds Unite: Planning a SCRABBLE-Themed Wedding

Sep 8, 2011 06:25 PM

Wedding themes are no rarity, but a SCRABBLE wedding?  I never would have guessed, until I came across "10 Ways to Incorporate Scrabble Into Your Wedding" at CasaSugar.  Now, I'm one of the biggest SCRABBLE nerds out there, but I could never see myself getting hitched amongst SCRABBLE tiles and SCRABBLE cakes and SCRABBLE cuff links.  I'd also be afraid that none of my guests would actually come if they knew SCRABBLE was the theme.  Hell, it's hard enough to get any of my friends to play a simple game!

But if you're looking to merge two happinesses together — your one true love and your future spouse — c'mon, we all know SCRABBLE would be the "true love" — then check out these pictures to find examples and inspiration for a "Fabulous Scrabulous Wedding".

The Proposal

The proposal might be the hardest thing to incorporate SCRABBLE into, but Erica found a way.  As Christine reluctantly started a game with Erica in their favorite cafe, she was surprised to find a ring inside the tile bag.  She gasped.  Erica got down on knees and asked, "Will you grow old with me?"  There was even a hidden photographer standing by to take secret photos of the proposal.  Amazing.  To see the full story, click here.

SCRABBLE Wedding Favors / Gifts

After the partying is all over, it's nice if your guests could take home something to remember the occasion.  After all, they got you big gifts, the least you could do is give them small gifts in return.

The Honeymoon

Who could forget about this after-wedding phase, the honeymoon period?  Two newlyweds, Kevin and Zhou, are "two young honeymooners searching the world for the meaning of life," and every now-and-then playing a game of SCRABBLE during their travels.  Below are their SCRABBLE photos.  And they encourage donations for every game they play (all proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House).
